Rabbi Yisroel Brotsky

Rabbi Yisroel Brotsky has been the Rav of the Beth Shalom since 2005. He grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He later spent several years in Bais Medrash L’torah in Skokie Illinois, and it was there that he learned under the widely acclaimed Rav and Torah personality Harav Zev Cohen.

It was in Chicago that he met his wonderful wife Aviva, and are now parents to five beautiful children. They spent their first years of marriage in ירושלים עיר הקודש , where Rabbi Brotsky learned in the great Mir Yeshiva under the leadership of the venerable Rosh HaYeshiva Harav Nosson Tzvi Finkel.

In the year 2000, the Rav and Rebbetzin moved to Scranton to join the Scranton Community Kollel led by noted Posek Harav Chaim Weg, from which he received his Semicha, in conjunction with Beis Medrash Govoha of Lakewood, Nj, all while reaching out to his community.

In 2005 Rabbi Brotsky assumed the position of Rav of the Beth Shalom, and has since partnered the Scranton Orthodox Rabbinate with Harav Mordechai Dov Fine.

Rabbi Brotsky presently gives a daily Daf Yomi shiur, Dirshu Mishnah Berurah shiur, weekly Navi shiur, leads the Chavrusah program, and teaches halacha to the high school girls of Bnos Yisroel.

His wife, Aviva, is loved by all and gives shiurim on a wide array of topics, teaching girls in the local high school, and to women of all ages and of all backgrounds.

The Rav and Rebbetzin have earned the endearment of their community by caring for all, and are energetic to spread the beauty and warmth of Torah to each and every Jew.
